We are back at siege warfare

 We think that we are in trench warfare because we saw trenches dug in Ukraine but at geopolitical level we are at siege warfare level. 

Russia can't conquer the west of Europe, even if it would break all the NATO countries, because it will inherit a poor territory. The riches of the West are due to its know how and industries, once they are gone Europe is a nice museum. They consumed their natural resources in the last 300 years.

Western Europe is an ideological threat to Russia, and Russia can't remain indiferent.

Because it can't conquer western Europe Russia uses siege tactics: it lay waste to the territories near Europe fortress so the refugee flee to Europe and consume resources: the war in Syria, Ukraine provided a big cohort of refugees, now they directly help refugees to cross the polish border.

It cuts supplies to Europe from Africa: Sahel countries that supplied France with minerals pivoted to Russia.

It divides the decision making in Europe using politicians like Orban,Fico and Babies 

In the other side Europe can't conquer Russia, mainly because nobody wants to die in a war, Russian nuclear weapons and the wastes of Russian territory. So Europe applies the tactic of a besieged: it hopes to tire and exhaust the besieger till it gives up.

It imposes sanctions and searches new sources of energy and raw materials.

The advantage of Europe is that is doesn't have to go in a war economy mode. Only the eastern flank countries should do it.

Also the large Maritime infrastructure allows import of materials from America,Africa, Australia,Canada. This allows a greater flexibility.
